| Hi friends.
The new blog is up and running! It's called
http://searlivans.com
When you navigate to that site, the page that comes up is our "joint blog"--the post on top is the most recent thing posted by either of us.
On the side bar, however, you will see a link to "Justin" and a link to "Becky". These links will take you to our individual blogs. The main page just lumps together all of our collected written stuff in the order in which it is written. So you can read both of our posts, just mine, or just Justin's.
See ya there! | | |
| Hi friends!
I'm posting for the reasons listed in the title above. True, I could be working on some other silly little things...
such as:
-Finding a job. -Applying for jobs. -Planning a unit for my Spanish III class -Going over my lessons for tomorrow -Reading
Etc.
But why do PRODUCTIVE things when the temperature is perma-cold and I could instead laze about in my pajamas all day and watch Desperate Housewives? (No-I did not do this ALL day Come on! Have some faith in me-I also did dishes, laundry, and yoga!)
Yup. So Justin got us a new blog domain name, but I'll keep it under wraps until it looks pretty and we start posting there. Stay tuned! Scatteredwhimsy.com expired, but we'll probably move the archives over to the new joint blog.
| Happy New Year!
Xanga's been busy since I left. I decided to come and see what was new, and I started a photoblog. I'll probably use it, at least short-term, as we (Justin and I) shuffle around from our current blogs to a new, joint-blog. Once that one is up I'll be sure to post th URL here. Justin's envisioning a blog that has space for each of us to post and also have links to important information and/or pictures. We joke about calling it thesearlivans.com, but we'll see what actually comes to pass.
Well, 2006 was a good (busy!) year. Short recap:
-Student Aiding at Ada Vista Spanish Immersion School with Kindergarteners-Winter to Spring 2006 -Accepted to McGregor Research Program-Spring 2006 -Trip to Georgia to go camping for Spring Break with Chara, Elly, and Jenn. -Designed, organized, and executed the first West Michigan SRI (Student Research Institute) on Calvin's campus (Summer 2006). -Did my first data collection, entry, analysis based on information from the SRI (Summer 2006). -Worked as a part-time nanny (Summer 2006). -Justin proposed! (and I said "yes")-July 1, 2006 -As a result of said proposoal, recieved a MacBook, Video iPod, and Nintendo DS (oh...and a ring! he's fantastic). -Wrote a scholarly article based on findings from the SRI -Travelled to Charlotte, NC to present research at the NAGC (National Association of Gifted Children) 2006 conference (November 2006). -Tutored in the Spanish department for the 3rd year running-2006 -Continued to intern at the Kent ISD-2006 -Taught Spanish after school to 1st and 2nd Grade students at Ada Elementary School-Fall 2006 -Worked as a lab assistant for middle school students in the NASA aeronautics education lab at the ISD-Fall 2006. -Bought a Nintendo Wii with Justin-our first joint posession -Took 16 credit hours and survived making 5 unit plans in one semester. -Got my student teaching placement: Grand Rapids Christian High School, teaching Spanish 3 and 4.
I'm sure there was more, but it really is difficult to recall a full year in five minutes. Here's wishing you a wonderful end to 2006 and an optimistic start to 2007! I'm not sure if I will make any resolutions this year or not...we'll see.
| Well guys. I'm leaving you.
It's not because of the 6 encouraging comments you just sent my way.
It's not because I feel that I'm wasting time with blogging.
Nope; it's because I got the best birthday present in the world! and here it is, my new big-girl professional honduran and costa-rican--themed blog.
Enjoy! And peace out xangaroos. It's been real.
| Hey GOOD NEWS!!!!!!
Today I found out my teacher aiding assignment!
And its fantastic. Great. Wonderful.
It's better than I thought.
I'm gonna aid in a Spanish full-immersion program!!!!!! That means
that, instead of teaching just Spanish, I'll teach...math, in Spanish;
social studies, in Spanish; grammar, in Spanish; you get it!
Woo! I'm so super pumped. Also because I'm a K-12 major, I'm doing this
aiding in the primary level, and I'll most likely be in a
Kindergarten-1st grade split room. That will contrast greatly with my
student teaching, which comes next year, and will be completed in a
middle or high school.
I am going to be mar-ket-a-ble baby. I hope. I so badly hope. I hope so
so badly. I'm nervous but so so pumped. Could not, simply COULD NOT
stop smiling all the way back to my apartment after class.
I'm off to explicate some Emily Dickenson now. Till later...
